This piece by John Anderson about the leadership of the House Appropriations Committee, on both sides of the aisle is a depressing but not altogether surprising story. It doesn't stop with Randy "Duke Stir' Cunnningham, in fact, it looks as if Jack Murtha stinks as badly as any Republican. No wonder everyone is keeping him at arms length. Why is it that access to appropriations on any level leads to corruption?
In the case of Murtha, he's been rotten from the beginning as the ABSCAM tapes clearly revealed. It's a wonder the Dem leadership has allowed him to become one of their high holies.
